Advisory Board Opportunity – Help Shape Our Creative Future

Art Classes Group is seeking a new Advisory Board Member to join our ambition to make creativity accessible for everyone. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to support the development of our inclusive art programmes and help guide the future of our Club a growing network of creative spaces for children, young people, adults, and families.

With exciting plans to expand by 2028, we are building a team of advisors who can bring expertise, ideas, and connections to help shape strategy, partnerships and impact. This role is ideal for someone with experience in their industry, education, the arts, youth engagement, community development, or social impact.

Art Classes Group Est 2016 is a vibrant, community-focused organisation delivering high-quality art classes and creative projects across Slough and surrounding areas. We work with children, young people (including SEND and NEET), adults, and families empowering communities through creativity.

Our activities include:

  • Weekly art classes and clubs
  • Holiday Activity & Food (HAF) programmes with SBC (Slough Borough Council)
  • Inclusive SEND workshops
  • Saturday Club for Young People
  • Creative wellbeing and community engagement events
  • Partnerships with schools, libraries, youth services, and local authorities

At our Club, an inclusive and inspiring space where learners of all ages and backgrounds can express themselves, build confidence, and develop creative skills.

As a member of our Advisory Board, you’ll help shape our vision, support our growth, and contribute to our objective of delivering meaningful, inclusive creative experiences. You’ll be part of a group of professionals who provide strategic guidance and act as ambassadors for our work in their networks and communities.

This role is non-governing (you will not have legal or fiduciary responsibility), making it ideal for someone who wants to contribute time, insight, and expertise without formal governance obligations.

We welcome applications from individuals with:

  • Experience in education, creative industries, youth work, health & wellbeing, or community development
  • A commitment to accessible, inclusive, and non-formal education
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by underserved and underrepresented communities
  • Enthusiasm for supporting a growing community arts organisation
  • Strategic thinking, creativity, and good communication skills
  • A desire to contribute to social impact, inclusion, and lifelong learning We are especially keen to hear from people with lived experience of the communities we serve.

Strategic Support

  • Offer ideas and insight to support the growth and direction of our Club and wider programmes
  • Share feedback on new initiatives, partnerships, and opportunities

Advocacy & Networks

  • Act as an ambassador for Art Classes Group in your network
  • Help us build new relationships and partnerships
  • Support fundraising and outreach efforts where possible

Collaboration

  • Participate in quarterly Advisory Board meetings (virtual or in-person)
  • Occasionally attend events or workshops to connect with our community
  • Quarterly Advisory Board meetings (approx. 2 hours each)
  • Occasional informal conversations with the executive team
  • Attendance at special events (optional)
  • This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Reasonable expenses can be reimbursed.
